APAC's first training venue in the North of England is the Northern
College, Wentworth Castle, Stainborough where the
Certificate in Therapeutic Play and
Diploma in Play Therapy courses will be held, starting in February
2007. Wentworth Castle has one of the most beautiful and
impressive settings in England and is easily accessible by road and rail
from the North East of England, Bradford, Huddersfield, Sheffield and
Yorkshire as well as Leeds. See

It
has an excellent environment for experiential therapeutic training.

From the North via M1
Take first exit from J37 roundabout. Keep in middle
lane until you reach main traffic lights. Turn right at traffic lights.
Continue along road (approx 1 mile) until it changes into a dual
carriage way, stay in the right hand lane until you reach the filter
road to turn right across the dual carriage way, at the traffic lights.
After turning right, continue down the hill, over the motorway bridge
and then first left into Gilroyd village. Follow winding road through
Gilroyd, over small bridge and sharp bend to the T Junction. Turn right
up Stainborough Lowe hill, and continue for approx half a mile. The
College entrance is on the left hand side at the top of the hill.
From the South via M1
Exit junction 36, take third exit (A61 Barnsley
South), at the small (second) roundabout take the first exit (still A61
Barnsley South). After approx 500 yards take the left turning, by the
obelisk, into The Walk (signposted Pilley). Stay on this road for three
miles, passing under the motorway and through Stainborough village.
Halfway up the hill turn left into the College drive which is clearly
signposted.
From Sheffield I Huddersfield via A629
Upon arrival in Thurgoland you should turn right (from
Sheffield) or left (from Huddersfield) at the traffic lights - one set
in the village. Stay on this road approx two miles, through Hood Green
village and find the College drive on your right as you descend a hill.
The accommodation being used
for the APAC courses are purpose built residential facilities with
single en-suite facilities. A special arrangement at this venue enables
an evening meal to be included as well as bed, breakfast and lunch.
Please reserve this accommodation through APAC. There is ample car
parking space.
Wentworth Castle was the home of the Earls of
Stafford during the 18th century when most of the existing buildings
were built and the gardens and surrounding park designed. The main
house is a Grade 1 listed building of great historical importance and is
encircled by the only Grade 1 listed landscape in South Yorkshire.
Its thirty-eight acres of grounds and gardens
are of outstanding botanical and environmental interest. The
gardens contain the national collection of many varieties of
rhododendron, camellia, magnolia and other Asiatic flowering plants, as
well as native European species. The blooms are dazzling in May
and June and provide a tranquil retreat during breaks from activities.
Wentworth Castle and Stainborough Park
Heritage Trust has successfully raised £13m to restore the listed
buildings, monuments and landscape features. This work, when
completed, will further enhance this very beautiful location.
