Professional Regulation
In the absence of any Government regulation or registration in the field of therapeutic play, play therapy and filial play, PTUK acts as a governing body in a self regulating profession. In accepting this responsibility we have set the highest standards of education, training and practice appropriate to their level of working.
We welcome the government’s recent change of policy (Spring 2011) towards ‘right touch’ regulation through CHRE/PSA using approved voluntary registers (AVRs). PTUK together with 18 other professional organisations is part of a consultative process to assist CHRE/PSA in producing appropriate standards and procedures with the aim of receiving applications to manage AVRs in July/October 2012.
